A ceiling light and it had a pull chain right there, that's what the chain came out, so it was a simple pull the chain down and the lights come on. But, as you can see, the chain broke and there's nothing left. So we have to do the repair, so I actually have the same exact light right over here, which I've already taken down. It's an identical light, so I'm going to show you how to replace the pull chain switch on that light, all right, so here's our light removed from the ceiling. So here's what's facing down so here's the back of it here, it's where all the guys live, so it was pretty basic to take it down.
You had these two wires connected up there, you're white and you're black hot wire. This is the hot one here. So, of course, make sure you turn off your electricity down at the service box before you take this off so now, we've got it off. Here's! What the switch looks like it's pretty simple on the other light the chain had broken off, but on this one, the chain is, the switch is just broken. It won't pull through and click on and off. So I have to replace this one as well, so I'm the factory these wires come with these a little crimp dearies here to hold the three wires in together.
So we need to take this one off. The black wires grab a pair of needle nose pliers and you need to squeeze where that crimp was holding it, and once you loosen that it should just be able to pull it right off. That cap comes off, and now these three wires are twisted together. So you just untwist them, and now your broken switch is free, so here's our new switch. This is, I just picked us up at the hardware store you can buy them, they're, pretty generic. It's cost about five bucks, same exact thing like that one.
So what we need to do is just hook this in the same way that that one was hooked in so I'm going to take these two black wires, untwist them and straighten them out a little bit on the ends so that we have the nice clean connection. So we've got all three wires here: we're going to pair them all up and twist it by hand twist them all three together just to get it started and then take our needle nose pliers and just do a little more twisting just to really connect all three Of these together and get a nice clean connection, okay, now these guys are all melded together.
